Overview
Klipy is a platform of Clips & Memes. Here you can find 3-10 second moments from popular movies, tv shows or videos. Place to create and share directly to any messenger using Klipy iOS & Android mobile App, Website or Browser Extension. Throughout the design process, I've worked on both mobile app and desktop design. Creating a space where thousands of creators can make memes and clips has been quite a challenge.
Problem
User Flow / Wireframes
User flows and wireframes are crucial parts of the design process. They help you avoid future mistakes, which can be very painful. I identified the entire user flow from start to finish and created low-fi wireframes to visualize functionality and flow more clearly
Browsing Memes / Clips / Gifs
The browsing page is the heart of the platform. It needs to be super comfortable for users who just want to explore and have fun! After looking into the best ways to scroll through content like memes or short videos, I knew I had to go with the TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts style. Users already love this format, so why reinvent the wheel? I jumped right in and made it happen!
Video Editor
One of the core functionalities of the website is the Video Editor. This platform provides significant opportunities for creators who enjoy making memes and sharing them on social media. I interviewed several active members who frequently upload and create videos to understand their needs and the apps they use. The results were unsurprising; most of them used CapCut. Consequently, I incorporated some of CapCut's best practices into the design.
Users
Creators who love making videos and sharing them also need a space to gather their community. Each user has a profile feed where they can see all their uploaded content, collections, likes, followers, and other statistics, among other cool features.
This part is essential for helping them become top creators on Klipy. The team has a lot of exciting challenges and contests planned around this for the future.
Desktop
After designing the app, I moved on to the desktop version. With the extra space that the desktop offers, I made a few tweaks to optimize the layout. In the end, it turned out to be incredibly comfortable to use, and users absolutely love it!
Summary
In the end, I want to mention that working on this project was a fantastic experience. I never had the opportunity to dive into a platform where you can explore, create, and share videos or memes all within the same space. It was truly a unique and exciting journey.
